Surrey Place Centre is committed to providing interdisciplinary learning experiences to students, medical trainees and residents. As part of our commitment to interprofessional learning, Surrey Place Centre and CAMH Dual Diagnosis Program have co-sponsored IPE perspectives™. These comprehensive teachings offer health science students to a wide range of learning opportunities in developmental disabilities and interprofessional collaboration and is facilitated by an interdisciplinary team working in the field.

- To gain knowledge and skills in interprofessional education (IPE) and interprofessional collaboration (IPC)

IPE perspectives™ is available to Health science students from the following academic programs:

What does IPE Perspectives involve?
Help Casey and Help Matteo provide insight into how interprofessional education and collaboration have impacted the lives of a child and an adult with developmental disabilities.
Team Perspective Seminar
This seminar offers students the opportunity to observe an interprofessional team as they review a case and formulate assessment and/ or treatment plans. Students will attend this clinical meeting and then meet after with IPE facilitators to discuss their experience. Students will reflect on and discuss the team process and dynamics in terms of communication, power or hierarchy and role responsibilities. They will also be asked to identify the key clinical issues that arose with regards to treatment and support of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Health Science students at the University of Toronto can register by logging onto the UT Portal system (https://portal.utoronto.ca) and enter the UT IPE site listed under “My Organizations Plus”: UT Interprofessional Education (IPE) Program/Curriculum. All available elective sessions will be listed under “Learning Activities” in the menu.
