Respite services give primary caregivers a temporary break from the routine of providing care to a family member with a disability. It is also an opportunity for an individual to experience other options of community living. These services can be provided in different ways. Some people receive funding to choose and pay for their own respite support. Other people choose to use a respite program where the person with a disability can stay for a short period of time.
At Developmental Services Ontario Toronto Region we can tell you more about respite services in our community. You can also find information on different respite programs available near you by visiting www.respiteservices.com or find a respite worker using the website’s “CHAP Worker Bank.”
