Basic Communication/Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)

The focus of this group is to increase the complexity of your child’s early communication skills, either verbally or with the use of PECS. In PECS, children learn to initiate communication by exchanging picture cards related to items or activities. In Basic Communication, children learn to initiate communication by using sounds or single words. Families will also participate in mediator model training to learn how to support their child’s communication skills.

This is also designed to teach appropriate classroom skills and social skills to help your child excel in school, as well as structured family education sessions.
