Symphonic Passion Chorus
The Symphonic Passion Chorus consists of approximately 30 adults with developmental disabilities, led by three clinical staff and 4-6 volunteers, including instrumental accompanists. All the music sung by the choir is in unison, as well as printed in books that use a combination of words and pictorial symbols, rather than musical notation, in order to make the singing experience accessible to members of varying abilities.
The focus of the choir is not on perfect notes but rather on assisting choir members in feeling a sense of social belonging and increasing their self-esteem by striving towards the group goal of a final concert performance, where the community is invited to attend.
