Surrey Place offers opportunities for students interested in doing research with our clients, their families, and our staff. We collaborate with students at all stages of the academic pathway: undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and post-graduate trainees.
Connect with Us as Early as Possible
It is important to contact us about a proposed project as early as possible to ensure you can meet the academic timelines and other requirements specified by your college or university before you begin. There are several important reasons for this.
- Up front approval for your research is required from the director of any program with which any clients, family members, or staff targeted for recruitment are associated.
- Clinical services may not be able to respond quickly to implement the research
- Approval from our Research Ethics Board will be required. (This process can take up to 2 months). Please see our Research Ethics page for more information.
Like all projects led by researchers not employed at Surrey Place you will require a Surrey Place staff member as part of the research team (in the case of graduate theses/dissertations this person may be part of you academic committee) or as an internal sponsor. The Surrey Place team member or sponsor may support your project in a variety of ways within Surrey Place, e.g., liaise with managers and staff to gain necessary administrative approvals for the project, assist with the research ethics process and support recruitment.
