- For caregiver:
- Encouraging developmentally-appropriate play
- Using language during play to encourage communication
- Connecting with your child through play
- Using calming strategies
- For child:
- Tolerating sharing toys with their caregivers
- Playing with toys as intended
- Involving and imitating their caregiver in play
- Naming or requesting toys with gestures, pointing, sounds or single words
- In this multidisciplinary service, you’ll benefit from a collaborative approach across professions, including psychology, occupational therapy, and behaviour analysis.
Prerequisite Skills
Your child is a great fit if they:
- Have a caregiver that is able to participate in all sessions
- Have emerging communication skills (e.g. pointing, hand-leading)
- They can safely participate in a group setting
- Can benefit from learning to play near and with peers
This program is not suitable if your child:
- Displays behaviours that could cause injury or require emergency help
