Supporting people with disabilities and neurodivergence to achieve new victories

Let’s push the boundaries of what’s possible

The big picture

Vision: Our vision is to work towards a world where everyone can receive the specialized services they need to lead a healthy life.

Get to know Surrey Place

Surrey Place is a not-for-profit organization that helps people of all ages with autism, developmental, and sensory-related concerns pursue their possibilities. Since 1962, we have supported people with varying and complex needs in the Toronto region and, more recently, Northwestern Ontario.

How we work

We bring together caring clinicians, staff, valued partners and other experts in the sector to provide a thorough, yet centralized care program. This holistic approach means everyone in a client’s circle of care—their Behaviour Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and more—can collaborate to work in their best interests.

  • We work with our clients throughout their lives, creating innovative programs so they can keep building their skills, grow their self-confidence, and set their sights even higher. For children, our approach revolves around the family unit. For adults, we support their independence.
  • Our care isn’t confined to our facilities. We also support clients and their families in accessing and navigating the broader service system, whether at home, online, or at one of our four locations.

Our guiding principles

These core values guide us as we work to improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. We believe in:

Accountability – We take responsibility for our actions, seek stakeholder feedback, and continuously improve our services through transparent, professional, and ethical conduct.

Collaboration – We believe the best clinical care is co-designed through collaborative efforts between individuals, families, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.

Evidence-informed – We continually evaluate and improve our services based on the latest research and strive to be innovative in designing clinical services that advance our sector.

Inclusion – We create a welcoming environment that celebrates diversity, eliminates barriers to accessing our services, and values the right to belong.

People-focused – We build meaningful relationships with individuals and families, respecting their values and beliefs and empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.

Awards

We’re proud to recognize our work in making a difference to people with developmental disabilities. Of course, none of these awards would be possible without the outstanding work of staff and clinicians who dedicate themselves to clients, community organizations and agencies, professionals, and students every day.

  • Corporate Inclusion Award (2025), recognizes our partnership with PESBODS in supporting families raising children with disabilities.

  • Accreditation Canada (2023 – 2026), recognizes organizations around the world that improve outcomes in accordance with independent assessments and global standards.
