Our Infant Hearing Program helps you make informed decisions from birth until age six. From identifying hearing loss at the very beginning of life to helping your child learn speech and language in a way that works for them, we’re here to help.

Infant Hearing Services
Newborn Hearing Screening
This free hearing screening is available to all newborns before leaving the hospital or through a community screening clinic.
Who it’s for: Infants from birth until 2 months of age
Infant Hearing Audiology Services
Book hearing tests and hearing technology fitting management. These services are offered through various Infant Hearing Audiology Clinics in Toronto.
Who it’s for: Children 0–6 years old
Family Support
Find counselling, support, and general information about raising a child with hearing loss. We can connect you with community agencies, resources, and referrals to community programs.
Who it’s for: Families with children 0–6 years old
Communication Development Support
Book an assessment of your child’s oral or visual communication development. We also offer parent support and education to help you nurture your child’s communication skills.
Who it’s for: Children 0–6 years old
A referral is required for all child hearing services.
Referrals for Audiology Services, Family Support, and Communication Development Support can be submitted by community audiologists, physicians, caregivers, and other professionals.

Newborn Hearing Screening
This service is appropriate for you and your child if:
You live in Toronto
Your child is between 0 and 2 months old
Audiology Services, Family Support & Communication Development Support
These services are appropriate for you and your child if:
- You live in Toronto
- Your child is between 0 and 6 years old
- Your child has permanent hearing loss
If your baby is identified with permanent hearing loss by an audiologist who is not part of the Infant Hearing Program, please obtain a copy of the audiological assessment report and contact the Toronto Infant Hearing Program at 416-925-5141 ext. 2529 Your child would be eligible until they are six years of age to receive provincially-funded supports and services through the Toronto Infant Hearing Program.
Newborn Hearing Screening: Occurs before two months of age. The booking time for these appointments is based upon availability.
Infant Hearing Audiology Services: Occurs for clients from the ages of 0–6 years. However, please be aware these services are only engaged when the client does not pass their infant hearing screening, has a risk factor for a permanent hearing loss, or has an identified permanent hearing loss.
Family Support and Communication Development Support: These services are for clients aged 0–6 years who have been diagnosed with a permanent hearing loss.
