How can Acceptance and Commitment Training (ACT) improve the health and well-being of mothers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
Surrey Place Centre’s and principal investigators Kelly Bryce and Johanna Lake conducted several workshops that employed a mixed-methods design to assess the impact of a mother-led ACT group intervention on the health and wellbeing of mothers of children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The duo collaborated with Dr. Yona Lunsky (Centre for Addiction and Mental Health), Dr. Kenneth Fung (Toronto Western Hospital) and Lee Steel (Extend-A-Family).
The research team were recipients of the Women’s Xchange $15K Challenge, an initiative that awards $15,000 or more to various organizations who can help advance the health of women and girls.
