The Economic Impacts Experienced by Families with Autistic Children in Ontario
Researchers from King’s University College at Western University are conducting a study on the financial impacts experienced by Ontario families caring for autistic children and youth. They are looking for primary caregivers (mother, father, guardian, etc.) of at least one child aged 0-25 with an autism diagnosis who are familiar with their family’s finances to complete an online survey.
The study aims to understand both direct costs (e.g., health and education expenses) and indirect costs (e.g., changes in parents’ income or work hours) experienced by families, and to examine how these costs vary across families by factors such as the child’s support needs and household income. Your input will help shape future policies and supports that truly reflect the challenges and needs of families.
The survey will take place through the Qualtrics platform and consists of two parts:
- Completing Part 1 (approximately 25-30 minutes, for one child) enters you in a draw for one of forty $50 prizes (approx. 1/35 odds).
- Completing both Parts 1 and 2 (approximately 40-60 minutes, for one child) enters you in a draw for one of forty $100 prizes (approx. 1/25 odds) or one of two $500 grand prizes.
Please consider taking 30-60 minutes to share your experiences. If you are unable to complete the survey in one setting, you can continue from where you left off using the same device. Your voice matters and helps make a difference!
