Are you a parent, a sibling or a caregiver with a passion for advocacy? Do you want to get more involved in the agency, have a platform to share your ideas and apply your own learned experiences to raise awareness and knowledge within the community to help other families?
The Family Advisory Council may be a great fit for you! The Family Advisory Council is currently accepting applications for membership for the 2020-2021 year. Applications are open to all caregivers that have loved ones using or have previously used Surrey Place services.
The Family Advisory Council is a committee of family members who meet monthly to advise Surrey Place on its direction, programs, services, and new initiatives. Members direct the committee’s work with guidance from senior management and focus their energies on helping to advise Surrey Place on how to enhance services and supports to better meet the needs of Surrey Place families. When not advising Surrey Place staff, members work together to devise projects and initiatives to serve families. Surrey Place is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from women and men, racialized persons, persons of colour, women, Indigenous / Aboriginal People of North America, persons with disabilities, LGBTQ persons, and others who may contribute to the further diversification of ideas.
Commitments needed:

- Meetings occur on the third Tuesday of each month, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
- Meetings are held at 2 Surrey Place, or by phone or video-conference if necessary
